The fastest way to reach me is email:

vetbilldecoder@docsanddeadlines.com

I read everything. I reply to most things within a few days, though it can take longer during busy weeks.

What I'd especially like to hear about

Corrections. If a clause is quoted here that no longer appears in the current version of that policy, if an exclusion or waiting period has been rewritten at renewal, if a cost figure is far off what a clinic in your region actually charges, or if a link to a state insurance department page has moved — tell me. Screenshots and policy form numbers are ideal, and so is the date you saw it. Corrections get made and marked on the page.

Gaps. The most useful messages describe a document nobody explains. A line on an itemized estimate that no source defines, a denial reason worded in a way that appears nowhere in the policy, a payment plan whose real cost is buried in an agreement — those become guides. Redacted copies of real estimates, benefit schedules, and denial letters (with names, account numbers, and clinic identifiers removed) are genuinely valuable, and I will never publish one without asking you first.

Questions. If you have read a page and the paperwork still does not make sense, say which document and which line. Questions that come up repeatedly get turned into their own guide, which helps more people than a private reply does.

What I can't help with

  • Anything to do with an animal's health: symptoms, diagnoses, whether a procedure is needed, whether treatment was appropriate, or what to do for a sick or injured pet. I am not a veterinarian. Call your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital.
  • Recommending which pet insurance policy or which insurer to buy, or reviewing your own policy and telling you what it covers. Only the contract you hold answers that.
  • Filing, arguing, or representing you in a claim, an appeal, or a state insurance complaint, or advising on your specific legal position. I am not an agent, an adjuster, or a lawyer.
  • Negotiating with a clinic or an insurer on your behalf, or contacting either of them for you.
  • Affiliate, referral, or commission arrangements from insurers, lenders, or clinics — this site takes none, and the offer will be declined whatever the terms.
  • Requests to publish sponsored posts, paid guest articles, or link insertions
